A Commemorative jockey statue painted in the colours of the B.C. Lions CFL team will forever stand in the Hastings paddock. On July 17, The Waterboys, a group of 150 businessmen and businesswomen that act as ambas- sadors for the B.C. Lions, attended a dedication ceremony to recognize B.C. Lions President and Chief Executive Of cer, Bob Ackles, who recently passed away at the age of 69. Ackles began working with the B.C. Lions more than 50 years ago as the club’s rst waterboy and then rose through the organization to become president.

Hastings General Manager, Raj Mutti commented on the importance of the Commemoration Ceremony. “Bob Ackles was an important part of the community and we worked closely on various initiatives to bring Hastings and the B.C.
