Canadian Connections Out of Town

Bay Meadows:
Owner Peter Redekop B.C. Ltd. had a huge stakes win at Bay Meadows on January 29, the week before the track closed for the season. Cause to Believe was the winner of the G3 $250,000 El Camino Real Derby with Russell Baze in the irons for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
Jockey Jake Barton recorded two more wins at the meet worth a total of $66,273.
Charles Town:
Owner Bruno Schickedanz had three wins, 2 with trainer Kevin Joy for $26,000 total and one with trainer Samuel Geris Jr. for $17,000.
Evangeline Downs:
Trainer Josie Carroll had a win with Liquid Silver for $28,800 for Valene Farms on Feb 18.
Golden Gate Fields:
Owner Peter Redekop BC Ltd. and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer teamed up for two wins worth a total of $23,550 while jockey Jake Barton continued his winning ways with another couple of wins worth $32,250 in total.
Gulfstream Park:
We saw a few more Canadian connec- tions winning at Gulfstream this month with Classic Piper winning for $25,000 for trainer Eric Coatrieux and owner Chiefswood Stable on Feb 4.
Jockey Chantal Sutherland only saw the winner circle once for $10,000 for trainer Mike McDonald.
Trainer Chantal Paquette had a win for $9,000 for owner Chynawhite Investments on Feb 8.
Crafty Diva was a winner for $15,000 on Feb 10 for owners Richard Lister, Olympia Stables and Peter Walder, who also trained.
2005 Sovereign Award winning trainer, Reade Baker, had a winner with Green Line (GB) for $17,000 for owner Harlequin Ranches on Feb 15.
Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort:
Trainer Jefferey Radosevich continues to dominate at Mountaineer adding another 8 wins this month. He is leading trainer with 17 wins and $208,711 in purses since January 14, 2006.
Trainer Don MacRae also had a very good month with 5 wins and $56,300 total purse earnings for various owners.
Oaklawn Park:
Owner Melnyk Racing Stables Inc. had three winners this month, two with trainer Anthony Reinstedler (Arch Hall $34,000 & Cleaver Hill $14,500) and one with trainer Layne Gilliforte (Lisbonvale $15,000).
Penn National:
Scott Fairlie was listed as owner for two wins with Bearbiscuit at Penn National with trainer Elisha Rathman for $14,248
total purses.
Owner Bruno Schickedanz had a pair of
winners; Jockey’s Choice $10,700 and Bannon’s Pick $7328.
Philadelphia:
Trainer Maggie Couse and her husband, jockey Na Somsanith teamed up for four wins this month: Harvey’s Cat $15,085 for Harvey Tenenbaum; Coastal Rose $9,000 for herself; Wila West $21,000 for Angela Maddern; and Turtle Drive for Scott Fairlie.
Tampa Bay Downs:
Trainer John Simms had a win for his wife Sharon with Stuck in Vegas on Jan 29
for $8,500.
Trainer Ida Paquette’s
homebred, Idapink, was a winner Feb 2 for $10,800. Jockey Martin Ramirez also had a win that day for $15,500. Sassy Maddy won for $9,100 for Ida and owner Warren Gagner.
Emerald Earrings, still trained by Bruce Alexander for owner Daniel Herrmann had a win for $17,200 on Feb 18.
2005 Canadian Champion Sprinter, Judith’s Wild Rush, in training at Gulfstream Park. The now 5-year-old colt, owned by Tenenbaum Racing Stables and trained by Reade Baker finished third in his first start at Gulfstream in the G3 $100,000 Deputy Minister Handicap on February 5.
