With its New Owner Syndicate program now in its second year, the Ontario CTHS is pleased to announce that more new owner syndicates are currently in the works for 2007.
Sponsored by the CTHS, the program provides new owners with a well- structured introduction to the joys of owning thoroughbreds at a fraction of the cost and risk of going it alone.
Last year, nine new owners mentored by the CTHS, established the All In
Stable. CTHS President Glenn Sikura, CTHS Marketing Chairperson Tim Orlando, and trainer Beverley Chub assisted the 10-member ownership group in purchasing a yearling and claiming a current Woodbine runner.
“We’re very pleased with the reaction to our first New Owner Syndicate,” says Mr. Orlando. “Although our first claiming horse got off to a less than stellar beginning, she is doing well at the farm, and we’re looking forward to an
improved 2007.”
Mr. Orlando advises that Bay Prince,
the two-year-old colt purchased at last year’s CTHS Yearling Selected Sale, is coming along. “He’s developing nicely and has recently completed his breaking and early training,” he says. “In 2006, his sire Yonaguska, finished as one of North America's top freshman sires, tying for the lead with 26 winners and ranking seventh by progeny earnings at over $725,000. We have high hopes for this
sharp-looking, young horse.”
