Ontario Racing Commission Circulating Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Plan
Public Consultation Process Planned for July and August, 2006
Toronto, ON: -- On May 30, 2006 the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) received the Ontario
Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Plan. The result of a twelve-month co-operative effort between the ORC and the Quarter Horse Racing Industry Steering Committee, the Development Plan was created to provide a blueprint for the participation of the Ontario Quarter Horse Racing sector in the Ontario Racetrack Slots Program.
The ORC Governing Board has accepted the Development Plan as a conceptual model to support long-term growth and stability for industry stake- holders and the citizens of Ontario. Final approval of the Plan is contingent upon the completion of a public consultation process. Public consultations will take place during July and August 2006. Amendments to the Development Plan resulting from public input will be presented to the ORC Governing Board for approval at the Board’s scheduled session in late August.
Members and representatives of industry stakeholder groups, interested parties and the general public are invited to participate in the public consultation process through three formats:
1. ORC website – www.ontarioracingcommission.ca
The Ontario Racing Commission’s website
includes an eight-page Summary Version of the Development Plan, as well as the complete 53-page document in printable format. Those viewing the web- site information have the opportunity to provide their comments by email and to complete a brief question- naire to provide focused input.
2. Public Information Session:
On Tuesday, August 1, 2006, a public information
