2017 Fact Book Available on The Jockey Club Website
The Jockey Club announced that the 2017 edition of the Fact Book is available in the Resources section of its website at jockeyclub.com.
The online Fact Book is a statistical and informational guide to Thoroughbred breeding,
racing and auction sales in North America. It also features a directory of state, national and international organizations.
Three pages in this year’s racing section have been updated to include Puerto Rico: Racing Statistics by Foaling Area, Size of Field and Starts per Horse, and 2-Year-Old Racing.

Breeders’ Cup Ticket Sales Open
to General Public
The Breeders’ Cup has made tickets to the 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar on November 3-4 available to the general public for purchase.
All tickets to the 2017 World Championships
will be sold in advance of the event, with no walk- up sales available for either day. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the ticketing center at 877-849-4287.
HPItv to stay on the Air
Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) announced HPItv, Woodbine Entertainment Group’s CRTC licensed digital television channel, will remain on the air. “After receiving feedback from horseplayers and racing fans expressing their desire to  nd a way to keep the channel on the air, we started to explore more alternative solutions,” said Sean Pinsonneault, WEG’s Executive Vice-President, Strategy and Wagering. “We believe we have come up with a practical solution that will work and as a result, have decided to continue with the main HPItv channel without disruption under an exciting new model.”
Last month, WEG announced plans to shut down the HPItv multi-track channel in April.
A new version of HPItv launched March 1, 2017.
Equine Injury Database: Rate of Fatal Injuries
Declines for Fourth Consecutive Year
An analysis of data from the Equine Injury Database (EID) has shown a reduction in the rate of fatal injury for a fourth consecutive year and a 23 percent drop since 2009. Click Here for Full Report
Equine Guelph Biosecurity
Equine Guelph’s online Biosecurity short course, Guest speaker, Dr. Alison Moore, Lead Veterinarian, Animal Health & Welfare at Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, provided a wealth of information to the participants. She covered topics such as: The right tools for disinfecting? Are You Ready for the Flu and Fly Season? and What is in the trailer with my horse?
