Why Breed to ‘The Judge Sez Who’ ???
If soundness, durability and versatility are important to you in a stallion selection, The Judge Sez Who, provides an excellent opportunity to breed to a classy runner for a reasonable fee.
The Judge Sez Who, won at many distances and
in many places while making 36 starts and earning $956,039 US.
He made nine starts as a two-year-old, winning the Foolish Pleasure Stakes and posting 4 wins,
2 seconds, and 1 third.
His three-year-old campaign saw him winning the Oklahoma Derby and the Migrating Moon Stakes. He ran second in the West Virginia Derby (G3, 9f), and Tropical Park Derby (G3-9f), and was third in the Ohio Derby (G2-9f).
His durability enabled him to continue racing into his five-year-old year.
Pedigree Evaluation:
The students of thoroughbred pedigree can easily appreciate how certain qualities become dominant and influence the breed through inbreeding.
If we look at War Relic we see that he is by 3S x 3D to Rock Sand, 3S x 3D to Fairy Gold, and
The Judge Sez Who
Judge TC - Mandy Mack by Native Prospector
The Judge Sez Who, is inbred to Bold Ruler, as is
A.P. Indy. Therefore the summary is that the, In Reality, line is the strongest part of the Man o’ War line still present in North American breeding in the 21st Century.
The Judge Sez Who, is a very sound racehorse who provides a great opportunity, from a sire-line standpoint, to continue the Man o’ War tradition.
The dam of The Judge Sez Who, is Mandy Mack, a stakes winning daughter of Native Prospector who made 30 starts and won $155,784.
She is a full sister to Prospect for Four, a stakes winning colt who made 31 starts and won $361,267.
The Judge Sez Who is sure to provide one of the most important components of racehorse qualities - Soundness.
Breeding Suggestions:
Inbreeding to In Reality is a highly recommended pattern which has produced Empire Maker, Banshee Breeze, Unbridled Elaine and Glitter Woman.
Introducing the Northern Dancer sire line is always an excellent idea.
If you can find some Sir Gaylord blood, you can inbreed to Somethingroyal, which is an absolutely fabulous nick on a true foundation mare.
Remember that inbreeding to Secretariat is different from inbreeding to Somethingroyal.
4S x 4D x 5D to Bend ‘Or. Looking ahead a few
generations we come up to, In Reality, who is inbred
3S x 3D to Fair Play.
Thus it is apparent that the qualities of the number one rated horse of the 20th Century, Man o’ War, are carried on by In Reality.
In Reality, was a wonderful racehorse who had the misfortune of being in the same crop as Dr. Fager and Damascus, but was none the less a superb top class runner.
When, In Reality, was bred to Timeforaturn, a Stakes Winning half sister to the sensational Bold ‘n Determined (winner of 16 of her 20 starts), the resulting foal was Judge Smells, winner of all three of his starts including a victory over the great Ferdinand.
Judge TC became the best runner by Judge Smells with earnings of $826,826.
Meanwhile the, In Reality, sire line was becoming a great tonic for breeders.
Horses such as Valid Appeal had joined, In Reality, in providing breeders the outcross they needed in a world full of Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer bloodlines.
At the same time, Relaunch, another son of, In Reality, was making a name for himself as an excellent sire in Kentucky and Cee’s Tizzy (a son of Relaunch) was having an impact on California breeders.
Judge TC is the son of Judge Smells and I’m Pretty, a daughter of Secretariat. Secretariat, is of course, the broodmare sire of Storm Cat, Gone West and A.P. Indy.
