This could definitely be an affair to remember.
Though it's not exactly right around the corner, you might want to leave September 23 open.
That's the night of the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society's 'Black & White Gala,' an event designed to raise funds for the adoption and placement program that aids racehorses in Ontario.

LongRun's 'Black and White' bash
as assistance from the Ontario thoroughbred industry, LongRun evaluates retired racehorses and attempts to provide any needed care and fostering they might require.
Funds raised by LongRun are used for basic care, feed, veterinary supplies, shipping and blacksmith services as well as blankets, halters and other stable equipment.
to raising awareness that racehorses deserve a dignified retirement.
For $200 a ticket, or $1,500 per table of eight, guests will receive a plated dinner and open bar privileges (both donated by the Krembil Foundation), a place-setting gift, as well as an opportunity to have a photo taken with a zebra.
There will also be a lavish live auction and the chance to win several prizes donated by various organizations and individuals.
As for what else is on tap, Canadian music star Jeff Healey and The Jazz Wizards are scheduled to provide the evening's entertainment. An equine graduate of the LongRun program will also be in attendance.
While Board of Directors (volunteers who donate their time and resources to help place thoroughbred racehorses no longer able to compete) are still working on certain details of the Black & White gala, members are optimistic this will be one of the most successful initiatives in the history of LongRun.
"For my whole life I've been involved in charities, mostly for children, but the thoroughbreds are my livelihood," said veteran Woodbine-based rider Ray Sabourin. "The horses run their eyeballs out for you every time, they deserve a place they can kick back and relax. I think it's a very worthy cause."
The Black & White Gala, to be held at Woodbine's popular Trackside Tent, is another prime example of LongRun's dedication

"This is the first major fundraiser in LongRun's five-year history, one that we are creating and organizing by ourselves," said Jennifer Morrison, a board member since the inception of the group in 2000. "Our gala is going to be one of the big events of the year and we are already thankful for the
support we have received during the early stages
of planning." For more
