European Commission department dealing with Bilateral Fisheries Partnership Agreements between the EU and third countries, where he was appointed Deputy Head of Unit responsible for negotiating and managing agreements with Morocco and other African countries.
Head of Unit in the Commission department dealing with the Neighbourhood East (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine)., Mr Fontana developed a detailed overview of the challenges of transition to democracy and the market, facilitated by his command of Russian.
