is not there and it’s much easier to get infections. Common sense again wouldn’t you agree?
#3. The third thing you have to do is rest, preferably in a quiet place with clean fresh air and allow the BODY TO HEAL itself and mend the wound.
#4. And the LAST thing you will hopefully do, is to not place your body in the same situation in the future and cause more of the same trauma. In other words, you try not to cut your finger again. Or tear open your skin in any way. This is ‘common sense’ because if you keep cutting or injuring yourself constantly while the body is trying to heal the wounds you already have, eventually it will run out of energy and ability to deal with so many emergencies and your body will eventually die from the repeated abuse.
So, what happens next?
Well, now that you have created the ideal ‘healing conditions’ the body’s own defences go into work and start the healing process. Blood clotting agents will stop the bleeding, white blood cells will rush to the wound to fight any infections, and the skin cells will start to regenerate and close the wound. The BODY is the “Miracle Cure” that heals EVERYTHING . . . if given the right opportunity. And you don’t need a science degree to know this is true. Just a little observation and common sense will confirm this.
Now obviously, you may have to change the bandage. Or wash the wound with some cleansing or antiseptic agents to help against the infections. But for all intents and purposes, the body takes care of and heals the wound by itself. And the body heals in ways modern ‘science,’ (and I use this term very loosely because a lot of ‘scientific’ truths are guesses at best from limited information and knowledge held at that time) cannot even begin to pretend to understand.
So that’s what happens when you have a “visible” injury. One that you can see and understand the cause of. The main thing is to AVOID repeating the trauma and allow the body to heal. If you keep damaging your body eventually it WILL die from the continued damage!!
The much more confusing (to the average person) is the invisible trauma or injury. The things you cannot really see clearly and understand the cause of.
But before we get into the invisible injuries and traumas I want to talk about pain in the next chapter . . .
