Minimize Tree Shipping Losses
Agents and BCOs, ‘tis the season for reminders about Landstar’s tree shipping guidelines. Secure your spot on the “nice” list this holiday season by following these guidelines from Landstar’s security and cargo loss prevention department.
FREE Holiday Meals for BCOs
• Do not accept any Christmas trees for delivery later than December 7, 2020. Agents should contact the security and cargo loss prevention department for approval to ship trees after Dec. 7. Be aware of delivery appointments that cannot be met.
• BCOs should contact the security and cargo loss prevention department at 800-241-0263 if they experience any problem with acceptance or the notation of shortage or damages.
• Only Landstar vans with composite or sheet/post plastic lined walls (model year 2013-2021) can be used for
tree shipments requiring the load to
be iced down.
• Do not put trees on a non- refrigerated trailer if the Bill of Lading requires maintaining a specific temperature.
• If the Bill of Lading requires that the trees be iced throughout the trip, BCOs should retain the receipts for the ice and submit them with the trip documents. This is the proof that those instructions were followed.
• Trailers should be completely cleaned out after delivery.
Remember, it is the independent agent’s responsibility to see that all guidelines are followed and to inform BCOs, operators and carriers of Landstar’s tree hauling requirements.
The Landstar tradition of offering free holiday meals continues in hopes of making the season a little brighter for independent business capacity owners (BCOs) on the road and away from their families during the holidays.
Landstar has teamed up with TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Centers (TA/Petro) to offer complimentary meals on Thanksgiving (Nov. 26) and Christmas (Dec. 25).
To ensure a successful transaction when printing your complementary holiday meal coupon, TA/Petro is
asking UltraOne® members to register for the coupon. The link to register for the Thanksgiving meal coupon will be posted for BCOs via LandstarOnline.com in November.
The link will be active until 11:59 p.m. Friday, November 20. The meal coupon will be available to print the day before Thanksgiving, but can only be redeemed on Thanksgiving Day.
BCOs who experience issues printing the coupon should contact LCAPP® at 1-800-531-5227. Landstar BCOs who are not an UltraOne card holder should visit a Landstar field operations center or contact LCAPP to ask for a holiday meal coupon.
Coupons are valid for up to $25
for an individual or up to $50 for
two people (team drivers/spouse) at participating TA and Petro locations
with full service restaurants. The coupon includes the meal, dessert, drink and tax. It is not valid for tips. Photocopies of the coupon will not be accepted.
Please monitor LandstarOnline.com for updates about holiday meal coupons for Thanksgiving and additional information about holiday meal coupons for Christmas. And be sure to check www.ta-petro.com/location-updates and the TA/Petro TruckSmart® mobile app
to determine restaurant openings and closings, as they could change daily depending on state mandates.
