Transporting “Triple Whammy”
Deb LaBree named to
NASTC Driver of the Year team
Congratulations to Landstar BCO Deb LaBree, who received the National Association of
Small Trucking Companies® (NASTC) Driver of the Year Award.
LaBree was the only female among the 19 drivers to be named to the NASTC 2020-2021 Driver of the Year team. LaBree leased to Landstar with her husband Del in 2014.
Each year the NASTC hosts an annual conference, where nominees are honored during an award ceremony.
BCO Finalists for Travel Centers of America Citizen Driver Award
Congratulations to the three Landstar BCOs who are finalists in the Travel Centers of America (TA) 2021 Citizen Driver contest.
• Richard Briars – Leased to Landstar in 2020
• Judy and Marty Byerly – Leased to Landstar in 2017
TA’s Citizen Driver program began in 2013 to recognize the professional drivers who keep the economy moving and embody the values of the truck driving profession through citizenship, safety, health and wellness, community involvement and leadership.
Since the program began, TA has awarded 35 Citizen Drivers. Among the professional drivers honored in previous years were Landstar independent owner-operators Bill Ater Jr., Gary Buchs (retired), Bob and Linda Caffee, Bill and Robyn Taylor, and Kenn and Beth Zelten.
Kudos to Landstar Agent Scott Loeffler and the staff at J&S Distribution Inc.
for supporting their customer with the logistics needed to transport a donated fire engine to Mexico. The engine is known as “Triple Whammy” because of the number of hoses it is equipped with to put out a fire.
As Loeffler explains, several California Rotary clubs worked together for months to raise enough money to donate and move the much needed
fire engine to the City of Bomberos
Landstar’s Virtual
NTDAW Celebration
El Grullo. Thanks to Loeffler and his agency team in Woodland, CA, the engine was officially delivered to its new fire department in July.
Landstar employees and independent agents joined in a virtual celebration of Landstar’s independent owner-operators during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) t his September.
Each year during NTDAW, the industry salutes professional truck drivers
for their commitment to one of America’s most essential roles. To join in the celebration of professional truck drivers this year, Landstar employees and independent agents sent their appreciation to Landstar BCOs via video messages, photos, and even original artwork.
All of the kudos were shared throughout the week of Sept.13 via Landstar’s official social media channels.
