Silva Segrist Indio, CA Spring Still Life Oil on Canvas This was painted from a real life studio set up . It began with a traditional realistic drawing and painting of the figurine, pitcher, flowers and vase with hard edges; then finally a palette knife was used to rework shadows and light areas in impasto style . It was exciting to break boundaries and soften edges with this freeing technique rendering some forms into abstraction . I hope it elicits a good response by the viewer . 48
