P. 5

Acceptance is the action of consenting to receive something or someone.
Any and all acceptance is a great step along the journey, because the opposite of acceptance is resistance.
We don't want this in our lives, we don't want this person, this job, this activity, we don't want these circumstances or this situation.
But when we accept it, and consent that we accept that this is the reality that is in unfolding, underneath our nose, in our world, in our life, then we're not offering a resistance to it. And it is resistance that causes the conflict, the inner and outer conflict.
If you push your hands together, in a prayer-like or Namaste-like fashion and push hard, you can sense a resistance, two opposing forces coming together.
We should be aware in our daily life, and ask, what are we resisting?
Are we resisting these thoughts, these emotions I'm feeling, this pain, this suffering, this history of mine, this future that I'm pretending to map out and mock-up, that we don't really know what is or will be.
So, we are surrendering into accepting what is, and that doesn't condone behaviours that are destructive or harmful.
There is has to be clear distinction between accepting the reality and then condoning and saying, “Oh, this is okay. It's all right. They're just human beings.” We don't and won't allow the damage and/or destruction, however, if we feel strongly enough to do something about it, we'll do
something about it.
