This candlestick has a solid base and is unlike the more delicate candlesticks from the Vergulde Draeck; it is pos- sible that this type was o f more use on board a ship because of its stability. Traces of wax were noted in the candle holder.

The tap is typical of the 17th century. Unfortunately, there is no mark on the tap handle. Similar to taps found on the
Vergulde Draeck and either for the bottlers kist or alternatively requisitions for the Indies. 163
