c. Inspect sea chest(s)
d. Inspect thrusters
e. Inspect through-hull fittings

Note: In some instances it may be necessary to tie off to a different structure from the vessel to be inspected with some distance offset. This method of operation complicates the inspection task and may be impossible with some smaller systems. Consider moving the deployment platform closer, handling the tether from the vessel, or delaying the task until logistical conditions improve.

Visual and Acoustic Hull Inspections from Vessel
Deployed from vessel with RB handling tether
Note: In some instances (such as with an overhanging bow or stern structure), mechanical advantage may be gained while operating the ROV system from the vessel to be inspected by having the tether tended from the RB.

Deployed from RB with tether handled from vessel

Note: As stated above, in some cases it may be beneficial to separate the deployment platform from the location of the tether handler. If this is deemed advisable, either swim the vehicle to the inspection platform for retrieval of the tether or physically walk the vehicle to the vessel to be inspected. Then deploy the submersible over the side and commence the inspection.
