 Explanatory notes 1760-70:
According to res. of 23.3 and 11.10.1770, fl 120,850 in half duiten was still to be dispatched, of the other specie fl 2,266 too much was sent.
The scheepjesschellingen were sent exclusively by the Zeeland chamber in these years and will nearly always have originated from the
Zeeland mint, the dubbeltjes from the Holland or Westfrisian mint. Of moneys dispatched in 1763 fl 100,000 in Mexicanen were destined
for the Cape, in 1764 fl 200,000 in ducatoons.
Explanatory
notes 1770-80:
On 1st November 1780 the sum of fl 108,033 had not yet been dispatched. Of these amounts the following sums were destined for the
Cape: in 1770 fl 200,000 in ducatoons, in 1771 fl 260,250 in ducatoons and fl 39,750 in reals, in 1773 fl 300,000 in ducatoons and in 1778
fl 50,000 in reals. The scheepjesschellingen
are always in Zeeland coinage, the dubbeltjes in Holland and Westfrisian coinage. From circa
1775 it seems to be custom for drafts to be accepted instead of the dispatches in silver bars, destined largely for Bengal; in 1780 the same
applies to Coromandel and part of the gold is therefore not dispatched.
