Chip and spray and macadam options are also feasible method of surfacing. Some of the options are:

The nature of these materials is that the aggregate is a through grading of a combination of all sizes of aggregate particles according to the largest size of the aggregate. The particles knit together to produce a tight aggregate mass held together by the bitumen binder (Figure 5.63). Wheel load is distributed thorough the layer by aggregate particle contact. It is an excellent lower cost material with mixtures for all types of site.
