 CALNE FOUNDATION TRUST
The Calne Foundation Trust is a charitable trust which supports present and future generations of pupils at St Mary’s Calne and St Margaret’s Preparatory School. It was established in 2012 and exists to ensure continuing investment in the schools’ facilities and to provide vital funding for Scholarships, Bursaries and other educational programmes benefiting the pupils of the two schools. The Calne Foundation Trust helps the schools to realise their ambitions and make a real difference for generations to come.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
A new generation of artists at St Mary’s Calne have once again benefited from showing their work alongside professionals in a prestigious London venue. The experience of displaying their work in an art context certainly supports them in building their CV and preparing themselves for engaging in the dynamic art world. I am grateful to all the artists who have contributed to A Sense of Place – a true collaboration of our St Mary’s Calne community – pupils, old girls, staff and friends.
Dr Felicia Kirk is especially supportive of the creative life of the school community, valuing individuals and groups who enable our students to achieve and attain their utmost. I know she joins me in thanking all of the administration team who have helped put this exhibition together – Caroline Wrench, Arabella Unwin and Kristy Jones. Our thanks also to the Music Department for their musical support at our Private View and to Sîan Evans as part of my Art team. I would also like to recognise the legacy of Rebecca Spicer, as the former Head of Art, and her influence in the work of some of our older girls.
My particular thanks to Naomi Litvack, our Artist in Residence and our Guest Curator for this exhibition, who has given me invaluable support. Thanks also go to our guest speaker Gregory Rubinstein, Senior Director and Head of Old Master & Early British Drawings at Sotheby’s Worldwide.
We have been given fantastic support by the Calne Girls’ Association – in their generous sponsorship of the Private View, as well as their encouragement and great interest with all our exhibitions.
Most importantly, thanks must go to our girls, who all approach their art with great determination. A Sense of Place is a testament to your skill, boundless enthusiasm and creative enquiry; you are such a pleasure to work with.
