Ulyana Lopatkina is widely considered to be one of the greatest ballet dancers of the 21st century.
Painted in 2017, shortly before her retirement, this portrait depicts Ulyana's unselfconscious poise, spirituality and strength.
Although the composition appears simple, the external design draws our eye to the line of her graceful neck, strong jaw, red hair and clear blue eyes.
This tells a story about the strength of the human spirit, and to me, everything it means to be an artist.
