XANDER PARISH & EVGENIYA GONZALEZ
Born in East Yorkshire, Xander Parish graduated from the Royal Ballet School in 2005 into the Royal Ballet Company. He danced in the Corps de Ballet for five years, before being discovered by Yuri Fateev, Director of the world famous Mariinsky Ballet, in 2010.
Blessed with both natural athleticism and aesthetic interpretive ability, Xander’s style is naturally graceful and moving, which is why he has had the privilege of partnering many of the world’s most famous ballerinas.
Since joining the Mariinsky he has been elevated to Principal Dancer, the highest accolade possible given, for example, to dancers such as Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov. He is the first British dancer to be so honoured in Russia.
Xander delights audiences in classical ballet such as‘Giselle’,‘Swan Lake’,‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Scheherazade’, as well as modern ballet
by choreographers such as Sir Frederick Ashton and George Balanchine.
Despite this, he is one of the most humble and kind men I know.
I could never have painted any of these pictures, had it not been for him
and I am so grateful for his agreeing to fly from Russia, to help supportVeterans Aid in this one-off Gala performance.
