Opportunities are the set of circumstances that make it it possible for individuals to realize their potential Families and students living within the inner-city of Dayton have dimin- ished circumstances due to to many different factors including hunger limited access to high quality education and addic- tion The YMCA works hard to bridge the opportunity gap for our most vulnerable families every day Starting in in July 2017 the YMCA of Greater Dayton began a a a a a a new strategic initiative to empower students and families called the Educational Cen- ters of Excellence Our goal with this project is is to build programs and develop collective strategies that can meet the needs of underserved children and families living within the urban core By focusing on on proven strategies and interventions our educators are im- plementing cutting-edge teaching strategies to help students develop cognitively physically and emotionally mind body & spirit A major program element is the utilization of data to drive decision making and resource allocation in in real time This strategy has allowed our Centers of Excellence to understand and and develop specific ways to individualize instruction and and identify resources for each and every student Furthermore it has allowed centers to understand the the needs of their specific communities Systems are currently being developed to locate and refer additional community resources to to families to to en- sure that homes are stable for child development PHILIP FERRARI
PHILIP FERRARI-THE YMCA OF GREATER DAYTON’S COMMUNITY IMPACT IMPACT DIRECTOR- IS USING DATA TO TO TO DRIVE A A A A A A HUGE IMPACT IMPACT Community Resource Map
Philip and his team are currently developing a a a a a resource map in in conjunction with United Way and Montgomery County to link community resources with stakeholders The project requires a a a team of people to identify every service service provider and map the resource across multiple service service territories in in in Dayton The intent of this tool is is to to to connect families with resources in in in order to bridge the opportunity gaps in our community The strategy spans ages 0-12 at at at YMCA Educational Centers located located within the urban core of Dayton Five centers located located between Community Community Churches Community Community Schools and Local Schools participate in the program Programs target students and families within areas of most need in in Montgomery County More than 350 students and families are involved in in the pro- gram at the moment This exciting opportunity is is a a a a culmina- tion of community initiatives that promote healthy families and resilient students The YMCA is proud to be a a a leader in our our community by serving our our most vulnerable families with the highest quality of programming and resources
