New officers were elected for the triennium, and an exchange of the Bryce Metcalf Eagles commenced, with the outgoing officers placing the Eagles around the necks of their successors. A round of applause rose for the outgoing President Tom Gorin for stewarding the many accomplishments of the Connecticut Society during his term. Ken Roach took up the president’s gavel and concluded the meeting.
During the luncheon, President Roach delivered a retelling of the event at Fraunces Tavern that led to the first silent toast to George Washington. The Connecticut Society was honored to have the new president general and his wife, Mary, in attendance, and he gave remarks following the silent toast. It was President General Lunger’s first constituent society meeting, and we hope
he and Mary enjoyed the festivities as much we enjoyed their company.
