Father, as evening comes, I thank you for being with me throughout the day. Lord for the times when my words, my thoughts or my actions weren’t as you would have wanted them to be, I’m sorry. Loving God, I ask for your forgiveness. Thank you that when I come to you in repentance, you forgive all my transgressions. Give me rest this night, dear Lord, with a clear conscience. Keep me wrapped in your love as I sleep and equip me for all that is ahead tomorrow. Amen.
“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8
Save us, O Lord, while waking, and guard us while sleeping, that while we are awake we may watch with Christ, and when we sleep we may rest in peace. Amen.
Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of thy only Son our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
