The Importance of a Good Layout and Design for your New Coffee Shop
Size
A good size for a coffee shop is about 1500 ft2 to 2000 ft2,
anything smaller and you won't be able to get enough seats in, to take enough money to break even. Before you sign any lease or agreement, you need to consider whether you will be able to fit all the equipment and facilities in without compromising the guest space.
Equipment Layout
Planning locations of ovens, dishwashers, coffee machines,
sinks, production areas and storage areas are critical. Think where you will serve the coffee from and where to wash the dishes. Draw plans of the layout of the equipment and visualize how the layout will work. Think and plan very carefully at this stage, as a mistake will be very costly.
