TLove Lies Prelude
here was a time in my life I said proudly that I “Hey, Weston, what’s up man!?” the shop owner shouted would always break boundaries and I refused out to the strikingly handsome young man that had just to become a statistic. How soon life produces walked in. “Oh, not too much Roy, come in for the usual; a situation in which we fail to remain exempt. my ’86 is giving me problems.” He said as he took down
It was the first semester, during my first year of college and I was so ready to start this portion of life. I was hon- estly ready for it my freshman year of high school. Which is why I enrolled up concurrent classes. Yep, I had gone to school for 4 years straight already and I wasn’t even tired of it. Being the cute but awkward black girl was over for me, I WAS GROWN! The statement I had used several times with my mom for weeks leading up to graduation. My friends and I had a house waiting for us the day after our ceremony. We looked at adulthood as a thing of beau- ty. We loaded up my grandpa’s trailer and headed to the University that was 2.5 hours away from home. Not too far from help but far enough away to ensure we wouldn’t have any surprise babysitters. The first night was great we unpacked, we played loud music and rejoiced. The next day we wanted to get out of the house and browse around the small city. During one of our back-trail trips, I must have run over a nail because when we came out of Target my little SUV had a lean and sure enough the front driver tire was extremely low. I expressed my frustrations to the group by stating, “this is bullshit!” really loudly to which my friend Cortni responded, “Luxe, don’t start that up, look, there is a tire shop right across the highway. Let’s go, I’ll pay for the patch; they are usually free.” She giggled as she patted me on my back then hopped into the vehi- cle in the seat behind me. Cooper, was engrossed in her phone and didn’t realize my frustration or that we were low key in danger having to bust a move with this bad tire pressure. I was on a direct course to have my life changed though. Looking back, it is interesting how completely un- aware we can be. Phone in hand or not...
his dark tinted aviators from his perfectly wide nose. He quickly clipped the shades into his top just as Roy made it over to exchange a tough but respectful handshake. They pulled each other in for the infamous man hug and Weston smiled a Hollywood grin as he looked around. “I see the new addition has come in and made some chang- es?” Weston asked as he looked around. “She sure did,” Roy happily responded. “These guys get tired of hearing me brag about her, but she has helped me tremendously. I always said if I was given another chance to do it right, I would.” It was as if Roy took a trip down memory lane in his mind then suddenly, shook back. He looked Weston in the eyes and said, “at some point, you slow down,
you know? I know your young, but it’s important to give your best love as often as you can.” He dropped his head for a moment and then
went back to complete happiness again,
“come on young man, let’s getcha fixed up, I can’t do much crawling; so, if I have what you need you will
have to get down and dirty for
it.” Roy explained as they
headed to the backyard full of
cars that you don’t drive. Just as
the men walked out to the back,
an SUV pulled up in the front and that is where we get nice to meet you.
