Young Hero Awards Durham Constabulary
On Sunday 9th October 2022 Officers from Chester-Le-Street police station made an unannounced visit to an address in Chester-le-Street to surprize two Young Heroes with a bravery award. These two young boys had to deal with their father who had collapsed and needed immediate medical help. They called the ambulance and other family members that they needed help!
Their mother Lynsey Leitch contacted us and told us the following,
Their bravery and resilience have
amazed me, and I am so proud of them. Kieran plays for a local football team
and last year, just after Chris died, we held a charity match for CHUF where we raised over £1700 and this year, we did the same, raising over £500 for St Cuthberts hospice who provided us with bereavement support. The club had a trophy made in Chris’s honour and we hope to hold a charity match each year for the Chris Leitch cup.”
Young Heroes are, Kieran aged 12 years
and his brother Ethan aged 7 years. Pictures, Adrian, Ethan, Kieran, and
Lynsey Leitch
Officers who looked at the nominations for Young Heroes and selected these two amazing boys were.
