Perhaps the most reoccurring complaint that I have heard since taking this job is is the increasing amount of military duty we perform Relative to that complaint it it was a a a a a a question what military leave is available to the technician Someone was not aware of the 22 day leave We can all search under “Types of of Military Leave” and find the the the different leave available at one of of the the the OPM sites the the search will take you too Here is a highlight:
5 5 U S C 6323 (a) provides 15 days (regardless of work schedule this leave is is based on an an 8-hour day day day format meaning a a a a a a a a a a a a a a day day day equals equals 8 8 8 hours so multiplying 8 8 8 hrs hrs by 15 days equals equals 120 hrs hrs ) per fiscal year for active active active duty duty duty active active active duty duty duty training training and inactive duty duty duty training training An employee can carry over a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a maximum of 15 days into the next fiscal year Inactive Duty Training fis is authorized training performed performed by members of a a a a a a a a a Reserve component not on on on on on active duty and performed performed in in in connection with the the prescribed activities of of the the Reserve component It consists of of regularly scheduled unit training periods additional training training periods and equivalent training 5 U S C 6323 (b) provides 22 workdays per calendar year for emergency duty as ordered by the the President the the Secretary of Defense or or or or or a a a a State Governor This leave is is provided for for employees who perform military duties in in support of of civil authorities in in the protection of of life and property or or or or who perform full-time military service as a a a a a a a result of of a a a a a a a a a call or or or or order to active duty in in fin in support of of of a a a a a a a a contingency operation* as defined in in fin in section 101(a)(13) of of title 10 10 United States Code 5 U S C 6323(c) provides unlimited military leave to members of of of of the the National Guard of of of of the the District of of of of of Columbia for certain types of of of of of duty ordered or or or or authorized under title 49 of of of of the District of Columbia Code 5 U S C 6323(d) provides that Reserve and National Guard Technicians only are entitled to 44 workdays of military leave for duties overseas under certain conditions If you you were unaware of a a a a a a a a “type” and did not use that type type you you you may be able to go back and recover recover any other charged leave you you you used used or or recover recover wages if you you you used used LWOP Consult with your labor rep and HRO benefits section www chooseACT com www ACTnat com 057
