   TIPS FROM THE CANOPY
RIGGING SLINGS
Slings are perhaps the most versatile tether for rigging hardware. A block, Portawrap or other device is secured using a sling. We sell a variety of dif- ferent slings, all with their specific advatanges for specific scenarios. Despite their differences, these slings will be made from one of these types sling-grade ropes:
12-STRAND HOLLOW BRAID (POLYESTER)
This rope’s construction is stronger and more flexible than others because of its loosely woven, hollow construction. Since there’s no core to this rope, abrasion wear is distributed throughout the cordage where it can be more easily monitored.
DOUBLE-BRAID (POLYESTER)
The tightly woven outer jacket of this rope helps protect the load bearing inner core from abrasion.
12-STRAND HOLLOW BRAID (DYNEEMA®)
Amsteel Blue, Samson Rope’s brand name for Dyneema (HMPE) is pound for pound equivalent in strength to steel wire. Amsteel Blue is not only lightweight (only one-sev- enth the weight of wire), it’s also as soft
as silk and less bulky than any other sling grade materials!
