Justanold Love for was purchased for $875,000 and J.E. acquired another Dash For Cash mare, Dashingly and when she retired in 1984, no female of any breed racing in North America had won more money.
Justanold Love won the 1983 Champion of Champions-G1, which had a field of 10 with combined earnings of over $8 million — then and still today, the richest field of Quarter Horses ever to run.
A year younger, Justanold Love earned Graded stakes winner status and $949,836 in three years on the track. Her wins included
Blue Sheep; and 2-time Champion and World Champion producer Marketina.
Leading Star (Truckle Feature-Marketina,
the Las Ninas and the Juvenile Invitational handicaps at Los Alamitos, and she gave Special Effort his only defeat in her All American Derby win. At 4, she ran second
in the Shue Fly Handicap-G2 and the All American Gold Cup and won the 1983 Champion of Champions-G1, which had a field of 10 with combined earnings of over $8 million — then and still today, the richest field of Quarter Horses ever to run.
“My goal was to have 10 champion broodmares, and we did get up to seven,”
J.E. says. His future broodmare band soon included another daughter of Dash For Cash, the 1979 mare — a four-time Champion and World Champion — Dashingly, who ran out $1,754,323 with 18 wins and five seconds of
25 starts in four years. She tallied wins in the Skoal Dash For Cash and the Golden State futurities, then ran second in the Los Alamitos and All American derbies. At 4, she won the Grade 1 Go Man Go Handicap, the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity and the All American Gold Cup, running fourth in the Grade 1 Champion of Champions. When she retired in 1984, no female of any breed racing in North America had won more money.

Lady Juno (Master Hand-Juno Reward, Jet Deck) earned a 21-9-1-4 record, $270,313 and multiple stakes winner status in four years on
the track, winning the Lassie Handicap and the Sophomore Handicap at 3, and the Las Damas Handicap and the Champion of Champions at 4.
Indigo Illusion (Beduino-Copy Capri, Duplicate Copy) earned $867,417 between 1983-1985 including wins in the Las Ninas Handicap-G3, the TQHA Texas Derby, the Rainbow Derby-G1 and the Vessels Maturity-G1. She won 17 and ran second in three of 30 starts and earned multiple graded stakes winner status.
Little Blue Sheep (St Bar-Miss Olene,
Leo) earned multiple stakes winner status and $389,365 with a 78-25-16-16 record in five years racing. Her wins included the Vessels Maturity at 4; the Bay Meadows Inaugural Handicap, Miss Peninsula Handicap, Peninsula Championship, Shue Fly Stakes, Double Bid Stakes, Go Man Go Handicap, and HQHRA Inaugural Handicap at 5; and the Las Damas Handicap, Miss Peninsula Handicap, Inaugural Handicap and Clabbertown G Handicap at 6.
“Then all hell broke loose with interest rates and oil prices in the ‘80s,” J.E. says. “We darn near lost it all, but we were able to hang onto some of these mares and their daughters.”
