All Stakes Entrants Required To Stable At SHRP
Sam Houston Race Park (SHRP) will require
all horses entered in trials and stakes races to be stabled on grounds no later than 24-hours prior to the first post of the corresponding race day. Qualifiers of the following races will be required to stable on SRHP property from the time of the trials to the running of the finals: Adequan Derby, John Deere Juvenile, Sam Houston Derby and Sam Houston Futurity. Failure to comply will result in the scratching of the horse and possibly further action by SHRP manage- ment. Visit shrp.com for more information.
ICSI Breedings Available To A Revenant
Dunn Ranch on March 30 announced they will offer ICSI breedings this year to Champion A Revenant (Mr Jess Perry-Thewayouwantmetoo, Mr Eye Opener). The Wynnewood, Oklahoma, ranch purchased the remaining frozen semen to A Revenant, who died in 2019 after suffering from laminitis. The 2014 stallion made just four starts as a two year old, winning three races and finishing second once. He won the Rainbow Futurity-G1 and was second in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1. A Revenant is the sire of 100% money earners, including Revenant Moon, win- ner of the Oklahoma Futurity-G2 on March 30. His stud fee is set at $2,500.
Michael Weiss Named GM at Arizona Downs
Longtime racing industry leader Michael Weiss has been named the new General Man- ager at Arizona Downs, leading the return
to live racing and preparations to restore the track. Weiss most recently was the GM at Rillito Park, and previously held positions at numerous tracks from starter to executive vice president. He pioneered the PRISE education- al program for the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program (RTIP). Live racing returns to Arizona Downs on June 1 and is set to run through Sept. 15.

Arizona Considers Lowering Maximum Race Age
After meeting with the Arizona Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and the Arizona Quarter Horse Association, Turf Para- dise General Manager Vince Francia is asking the Arizona Racing Commission to lower the maximum age for horses to compete in the state at their April 19 meeting. The current state
rule is 13-years of age and under. The new rule would prohibit horses 13 and older from start- ing and require 12 year olds to have won a race within the preceding 12 months.
Indiana Grand on April 1 donated 20 tons of dirt to the site of the future amphitheater at Blue River Memorial Park. The old dirt came from the racing surface of the track, which becomes less effective over time and is then replaced with a fresh mixture of sand, silt and clay.
Grants Pass Downs Seeking Historical
Racing Machines
Dutch Bros. Coffee founder and horse racing enthusiast Travis Boersma has plans to install 250 historical horse racing terminals in a gam- ing, entertainment and dining venue adjacent to Grants Pass Downs. The Flying Lark is currently under construction, and Gov. Kate Brown said the Oregon Racing Commission will determine if the machines fit the definition of pari-mutuel wagering and are legal. Grants Pass Downs begins their spring meet on May 10 and runs through July 13.
