LQHBA Breeders’ Derby-RG3

Patience paid. Weather was the only real question.
The fastest qualifier from the Nov. 21 tri-
als, Lifeinthefastlanes scored by 3/4-length in the $273,763 LQHBA Breeders’ Derby-RG3 on a wet Dec. 19 at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, Louisiana.
With David Alvarez in the irons for Champion Trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. Lifeinthefastlanes went to post as the 4-5 favor- ite in a field of 10 state-bred sophomores going 400 yards on a sealed track, which was sloppy from rain. Handling the conditions like the pro she has become, the filly sprinted through the muck in :19.300, earning a 105 speed index and the $121,825 winner’s share of the purse from her third career stakes score.
“She broke good,” Alvarez said of the filly’s start from the 8-post. “There was no problem.” The Derby was on closing night of the Quarter
