                 THE LIGHTER SIDE
“The Mexican buyers are such an enormous part of our industry, and I wish the horses that were sold to buyers there had more opportunities to record official racing statistics.”
Q: If you could vacation anywhere on the planet, where would it be & what would you do there?
A: Australia is definitely high on my list, but
I really want to see more of Europe, especially Spain, Great Britain, and I would even love to see more of Italy. The rich history over there fascinates me.
Q: If you could sit down and visit with anyone, past or present, who would
it be?
A: I couldn’t name any one individual necessarily, but I love genealogy so I think it would be pretty amazing to be able to talk with somebody from your own family from generations back. Learn about them and what life was like back then—things they actually went through and experienced instead of just what’s learned from history books.
Q: What’s one thing you don’t like about Quarter Horse racing?
A: Probably on par with many others, but I don’t like the drug issues we still face on the track. On a separate topic, I don’t like that there aren’t more AQHA recognized racetracks in Mexico. The Mexican buyers are such an enormous part of our industry, and I wish the horses that were sold to buyers there had more opportunities to record official racing statistics.
Q: What’s one thing you like about Quarter Horse racing?
A: Aside from the actual thrill of watching these horses run, it would be the friends and relationships made in this industry. You get to meet so many different people from different backgrounds and walks of life, but we all have one common interest in raising and running these horses.
