                 PC FRENCHMANS HAYDAY
“DINERO”
1995-2020
By Emily Blankenship
Speedhorse would like to express our condolences to the connections of PC Frenchmans Hayday
Bred by the legendary Frances Loiseau, PC Frenchmans Hayday (Sun Frost-Caseys Charm,
Tiny Circus), aka “Dinero”, passed away on March 23, 2020 at the age of 25. Mel and Wendy Potter pur- chased Dinero at 2 years of age at the 1997 Cowan Brothers’ Quarter Horse Production Sale in Rapid City, South Dakota. Being a full brother to 4-time AQHA/PRCA Barrel Horse of the Year French Flash Hawk, “Bozo”, Dinero was the highlight of the sale.
In 2004, World Champion Heeler Cory Petska and Dinero won the six-head rodeo team roping at the California Rodeo Salinas, and he carried Petska to 4th in the world in Team Roping and Todd Suhn to 6th in the world in Steer Wrestling. The palomino stallion also found fame under World Champion barrel
racer Sherry Cervi, who ran him in the National Finals Rodeo in 2005. As an NFR veteran, Dinero had seven qualifications with over $600,000 in PRCA earnings and more than $400,000 for his owner Mel Potter and daughter Sherry Cervi.
Dinero is the sire of bar-
rel earners of over $4.1 million with two World Champions, not including hundreds of thousands Petska won riding two of Dinero’s daughters in the team roping pen.
“Dinero, you have made
so many dreams come true... especially mine. I will forever be grateful. I know your legacy will live on far beyond your years,” said Cervi of his passing.
Speedhorse was privileged to feature Dinero on the cover of our 2017 Speedhorse Barrel Stallion Register.

The following is a release from Potter Ranch
written by Ryan Alexander, grandson of Mel and Wendy Potter:
Today we cried as you passed away
Left with so many things, we meant to say
“Thank you” was the phrase we tried to find
As Potter Ranch became the legacy, you left behind
The sire of Champions, who broke the mold
Even your coat was made of gold
Many of your colts have become a sensation
Making you the barrel racing stud of this generation
Four World Championships in a ten year span
And to think people made fun of your tail as you ran When you get to the other side, you can strut
through all the gates
Go take your place in the pasture, with all the other greats You deserve it; you don’t have to question what you’ve done We’ll keep adding to your legacy with another daughter or a son Now is the time for the hardest part to say
Goodbye Dinero; Goodbye PC Frenchmans Hayday
We love you
-Potter Ranch
