Following in the footsteps of his father John Stinebaugh, Zackary Stinebaugh is quickly on his way to becoming a top
Quarter Horse trainer. On Dec. 16, Zackary scored his first stakes win in the $124,290 Evangeline Downs Derby at Evangeline Downs with B Leaving. More impressively, he dominated the field by also saddling the
second place and third place horses. Racing for owner Alfredo Garza Rodriguez,
B Leaving broke in third under Gilbert Ortiz and quickly secured the lead. He contin-
ued to gain ground as he stormed down the track, completing the 400 yards with an impressive 2 1/4-length winning mar- gin. Hes Jess Dealin and jockey Francisco
Calderon followed behind in second after a steady effort for owner Pete A. Scarmardo. Meanwhile, Sergio Dominguez guided Secret Romero to a solid third place finish for owner Stinebaugh Equine Enterprises LLC. Combined, these three horses earned over $95,000 and marked Zachary’s fifth win from only 10 starts, all in 2022.
