Scoopies Leaving You Stakes

ess Dash Fast snagged the first stakes victory of
his career in the $30,000 Scoopies Leaving You Stakes held at Evangeline Downs on Dec. 17.
Jess Dash Fast was the fastest away from the gate with jockey Jorge Garcia aboard. They led at every call enroute to the finish. They crossed the line a 1/2-length to the good, stopping the timer at :12.916 to earn a 107 speed index. The filly also earned the $18,000 winner’s share of the purse. That ups her total bankroll to $134,542, and her race record now stands at three wins out of 10 career starts. She has lit the board in every start except one.
She is owned by Juan M. Montoya and trained
by Roberto Madrigal. She was bred in Louisiana by Jumonville Farms/Burnett Ranch, out of the winning mare Eyejesslovelouisiana, dam of nine winners from 11 starters with earnings of $1,026,286.
Sheza Freighttrain T (Freighttrain B-Cloning Around) gave a big charge at the end to bank second place for owner Patrick Richardson and trainer Robi Meche. Juan Pulido was handling the reins. The filly has won eight stakes races, including this year’s Flashy Hemp Stakes, the Selma Stakes, and the Mother’s Day Stakes.
A Political Toast (Apollitical Blood-Princess Toast) ran a steady and gritty race to place third for owner CB Racing Stables and trainer Edgar Espino. Arturo Alvarez was in the irons. The gelding was coming off a win from his previous out, he also won the Delta Dash Stakes on April 29.
Rounding out the field were Cwfasttrack (Mr Ease Cartel-BT Sheza Baby Spoon), JLA Indy Rogue (Heza Fast Rogue-French Indy TB), TF Ms Sweet Mallard (One Sweet Jess-Miss Mallard), Soft On The Freight (Freighttrain B-Soft Summer Jess), Apolliticalfastlane (Apollitical Blood-Pantherinthefastlane), Escandalo (Apollitical Blood-Eying Miss Perry). Dynastys Five Bar was scratched.
Sam’s Town Stakes

enalia Sweet Jess had ended 2021 with a
victory in the Evangeline Downs Derby, which culminated a four-race winning streak. He had trouble finding the winner’s circle in 2022, however, until the $28,450 Sam’s Town Stakes at Evangeline Downs on Dec. 16.
Ridden for the first time by jockey Noe Garcia Jr., he collared the leader by the second call. He fought off some rivals at the finish and with a big final kick, his margin of victory was a nose. The final clocking of :17.486 earned him a 94 speed index and the $18,000 winner’s share of the purse.
His earnings now total $184,983, and his race record stands at 13-6-2-3. Denalia Sweet Jess placed third in this year’s Develop A Plan Stakes-G3 on July 8 and in the 2020 Mardi Gras Futurity-G2.
Fernando Valdez trains Denalia Sweet Jess for owner Jose Rodriguez. Russell Mowad bred Denalia Sweet Jess in Louisiana out of Denali Chick. She has produced two starters, both winners. Denalia Sweet Jess traces back to his third dam, the stakes winning Painted Bug, who won the 1984 Ruidoso 550 Championship and also placed in nine other stakes and earned $274,569 during her racing career.
Prized Dimon (Prized Wagon-DQS Chew Chew), finished second under jockey Edgar Mata. He is owned by Mauricio Garza and trained by Janessa Muniz.
Jorge Garcia piloted Swags (Kiss My Hocks-Check The Account) to third for owner Luciano Gutierrez IV. Adrian Huitron trains the colt. Swags also finished second in the Firecracker Derby-G3 on July 8.
The remaining order of finish was One Sweet Boss (One Sweet Jess-Starlight Bess), One Fast Perry (Fast Prize Jordan-De Bell Perry), Jess Perfect Moon (Ja Jess Perfect-Dash N To The Moon), Other World (Foose-Celestial Being TB), and Mr Teco (Man Who Wouldbe King-My Cold Corona). KK Blue Wagon and Quid Pro Quo were scratched.
Louisiana Champions Day Classic-RG2
RDD EMPIRE BUILDER

C Stables LLC’s RDD Empire Builder got his first
stakes win in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic-RG2 at Evangeline Downs on Dec. 17.
Trained by Riley Aguilar and ridden by jockey Arturo Alvarez, RDD Empire Builder led at every call enroute to the finish. Covering his 440-yard trip in :21.446, his winning margin was 3/4-lengths. He earned a speed index of 108 and the $45,000 winner’s share of the purse, boosting his bankroll to $124,820.
RDD Empire Builder was coming off a 2 1/4-length victory in a starter-optional claiming dash at Evangeline Downs on Nov. 17. All told, he has won six of 19 starts. RDD Empire Builder sold for $83,000 at the 2018 LQHBA Yearling Sale.
The gelding was bred by Richard Dale Domingue, out of Jacquie O, a full sister to Champion Carters Cartel. The mare has produced three winners from four starters. His second
dam, Jumping Tac Flash, in 1993 won the Miss Kindergarten Futurity-G2 and California Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG3, and was that year’s Champion 2-Year- Old Filly. She produced 12 winners from 19 starters, including two stakes winners and two stakes placed.
Lifeinthefastlanes (Jess Louisiana Blue- Pantherinthefastlane) placed second for her owner Paragon Farms LLC and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. Benito Baca piloted the multiple graded stakes winner. JRS Coronas Toast (Coronas Leaving You-Egos Toast To Dash) ran third under jockey Gilbert Ortiz for owners Paul R. Rigdon, Gyth Rigdon, Gerardo Gonzalez, Juan Luis Fernandez, and Paul R. Rigdon who also trains JRS Coronas Toast. Followed by Tuckers Prize (Fast Prize Dash-BB Secrets Game), Dashing Jess Cuervo (Jess Cuervo-Dashing Well), Hezaa Fast Boy (Heza Fast Dash-Brenda Beautiful), Jessalilbit (One Sweet Jess-Princess Lil Bit), and JJ Heza Fast Dash Jr (Heza Fast Dash-Forever Real). Five Bar Miracles and One Fast Perry scratched.
