  The $460,000 high seller was Hip #568 Trump My Record, the 2019 Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding consigned by Bielau Oaks and purchased by Jesus Espinosa.
The 43rd annual Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City took place on Jan. 15-16. The American Quarter Horse Association announced their 2020 Champions the previ- ous evening on Jan. 14.
The sale saw 536 horses sell compared to 645 in 2020 over a two day period. The average increased to $18,350 compared to $12,005 in 2020 and the median rose to $13,000 compared to $7,700 in 2020. Gross sales reached $9,835,600, a huge jump compared to $7,743,000 in 2020. “We had a record crowd for the weekend and a tremendous finish to the Winter Mixed Sale to kick off 2021,” said Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney in a press release. “Heritage Place wants to say ‘Thank You’ to all of our customers, and we truly appreciate everyone’s business and wish them all success for 2021.”
The high seller at $460,000 was Hip #568 Trump My Record si 104 (Apollitical Blood-Breck N Records, PYC Paint Your Wagon). The 2017 bay gelding was consigned by Bielau Oaks and purchased by Jesus Espinosa. Trump My Record won multiple graded stakes races, including the Texas Classic Futurity-G1, Sam Houston Futurity-G2, Harrah’s Futurity-G3, Firecracker Derby-G3 and B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes-RG2. The gelding was named AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding
in 2019. Trump My Record is by leading sire Apollitical Blood and out of lightly raced Breck N Records. His second dam is Thrill And Grace, who won the Harrah’s Entertainment Derby-G2.
The second-highest seller at $350,000 was Hip #140 Curls Happy Wagon si 103 (PYC Paint
Your Wagon-Eye A Spit Curl Girl, Spit Curl Jess). Consigned by Charette-Hill Racing, Inc., agent for Michal Pohl and Martin Stacy, the 2015 mare was purchased by Michael Herd. Curls Happy Wagon was named Champion Aged Mare at the AQHA award ceremony the previous night. The mare won the Mildred N Vessels Memorial Handicap-G1, Decketta Stakes-G2 (twice), Las Damas Handicap-G2, and Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge. She also finished third in the Charger Bar Handicap-G1 on Jan. 2, 2021. To date, Curls Happy Wagon has earned $360,674. Currently in training, the mare is by top sire PYC Paint Your Wagon and out of Grade 2 stakes winner Eye A Spit Curl Girl.
