Docs First Card has been an outstanding producer for her owners. She has 29 foals with 28 starters, 22 ROM, 18 winners, four stakes winners and five stakes placed runners. Her foals have earned over $2 million. Her fourth stakes winner is Cartels First Card, winner of the Arapahoe Express Stakes. Her leading money winner is
her stakes placed son Docs Best Card, who was second in four graded stakes, including the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1, Golden State Million Futurity-G1 and the Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1. Secret Card, one of her Grade 1 winners, was the 2000 AQHA Racing Champion Two-Year-Old Filly, which adds to the legacy of Docs First Card as an AQHA Dam of Distinction.
ROSAS SPECIAL
Rosas Special earned her AQHA Dam of Distinction Award as the dam of two AQHA Racing Champions. She is the dam of Mezoomn, the 2005 AQHA Canadian Racing Champion; and Its All About Speed, a two-time AQHA Canadian Racing Champion in 2006 and 2008. Mezoomn was sired by Shazoom and Its All About Speed was sired by Streakin La Jolla.
Bobby D. Cox, the 2020 AQHA Champion Breeder, is the breeder of Rosas Special. She
was sired by Special Task, a son of Special Effort. The dam of Special Task is Miss Prevel,
a Thoroughbred mare by Fort Prevel. The dam Rosas Special is Old Love Of Mine, a daughter of Dash For Cash and out of Callmecutie, also an AQHA Dam of Distinction. Callmecutie was sired by Mr Bruce and out of Oh My Oh by Spotted Bull and Oh My Oh is out of AQHA Racing World Champion Miss Meyers by Leo.
Ray Bennett bought Rosas Special as a yearling. Bennett sent the mare to the track with trainer Russell Harris where she made three starts with two seconds and one third, earning $1,737. Two of her starts were in Futurity trials - one of them was in the Rainbow Futurity trials where she finished second to All Dane, who finished fifth in the Rainbow Futurity-G1.
Rosas Special started her career as a broodmare with her first foal Special Corona, who was stakes placed with a second in the 2003 All Canadian Derby of Alberta Division 1. Ray Bennett bred the first foals out of Rosas Special.
Then, in 2002, she was sold to Darren and Marilyn Pollit’s Shady Lane Stables of Leslieville, Alberta, Canada, where today she is the dam 15 foals, 13 starters, 10 ROM, two stakes winners of
10 stakes and four stakes placed runners. Her foals have earned $377,493. Her stakes winners are her Champion sons Mezoomn, who has won three stakes including the Canada Juvenile Challenge and the All Canadian Futurity of Alberta; and Its All About Speed, winner of seven stakes races including the Canadian Quarter Horse Cup Futurity-G3 and the Canada Championship Challenge-G3. The success of Rosas Special is well documented in her produce records and the AQHA Dam of Distinction title solidifies her as a producer through her sons.
