2021 SPEEDHORSE BARREL STALLION REGISTER
The cover of this year’s 2021 Speedhorse Barrel Stallion Register celebrates the great Eddie Stinson. The 2003 sorrel stallion is a remarkable horse and has proven himself both on the flat track and through his progeny in the barrel arena. Eddie Stinson’s foals get their excellent conformation, good disposition and exceptional athletic ability from this great sire.
Paul Whissel bred Eddie Stinson and the colt was transferred to the Ace Of Spade Ranch in Texas as a yearling. He remained with the ranch throughout his racing career.
Eddie Stinson the horse is the namesake of the great American aviator Edward Anderson “Eddie” Stinson, a U.S. Army flight instructor of the early 20th century who set a world endurance record and was the world’s most experienced pilot in flight hours at the time of his death in 1932. Both Eddies are fast.
Eddie Stinson’s race record shows that he made a total of 20 starts to five years of age,
and earned a 111 speed index with $200,016
in earnings, winning the 2005 JJ’s Shotglass Stakes and the 2006 Zia Park Derby-G1. He was also second in the 2005 Down Side Stakes and third in the 2005 Jess Burner Memorial Handicap-RG1, 2005 New Mexico Classic Cup Championship and the 2007 James Isaac Hobbs Stakes-G2. Eddie Stinson was named New Mexico Hi-Point Stallion in 2007.
Eddie Stinson is by Dash Ta Fame, the all- time leading barrel sire with nearly $25 million in progeny earnings. Dash Ta Fame flat track runners

Casino Lights produced 11 foals with six starters, including Casino Bambino, who competed both on
the race track and in barrels, and Casino Callgirl, who earned three AQHA points in barrel racing. Casino Lights is by Sixarun, the sire of Champions Tres Seis and Darlin Sixarun, and the broodmare sire of World Champion Blues Girl Too.
Cody and Luann Johnson purchased Eddie Stinson three years ago when Luann was looking to begin
her own stud program. When Eddie Stinson became available, she seized the opportunity to own this great stallion and started her program with him.
Currently, Eddie Stinson is listed at #2 on the top 20 Barrel Futurity Sires of 2020 with total current year earnings of $300,776.
