“Our business has grown over the years strictly from word of mouth and referrals. I haven’t sought out people at all, really. It’s been all word of mouth.”

“Tee Chic winning the Oklahoma Futurity at Remington kind of got me rolling,” Cheryl said. “I was not known at the time, kind of unheard of, and Javier and (everyone connected) to the horse were so wonderful, and they were always quick to share that I broke the horse. They were all so nice about that.

Another accomplished 4C graduate
is millionaire earner Jess Savin Candy, conditioned by John Stinebaugh, who earlier this year racked up his 1,000th career victory. Winner of the 2021 Ruidoso Futurity-G1
and Rainbow Futurity-G1, Jess Savin Candy banked $1,061,560 in a stellar racing career for owner Dutch Masters III.
Sweet Emylou, a 2020 daughter of FDD Dynasty, has a special connection to 4C. Sweet Emylou is co-owned by Christine Asmussen and her sister Carolyn’s boyfriend Alfredo Casso.
Trained by Stinebaugh, Sweet Emylou most recently won her trial heat for the Heritage Place Oaks and last year finished fourth in both the Texas Classic Juvenile Stakes at Lone Star Park and in the All American Juvenile Stakes at Ruidoso Downs. As of press time, Sweet Emylou has won two of eight starts and placed in two others with earnings of $38,488.
“Christine, who doesn’t ride much, actually rode her (Sweet Emylou),” Cheryl shared. “The filly never bucked, never got upset, and was never nervous. Whatever you wanted her to do, she did. She was fine with everything. So, Christine got on her. She said, ‘I want to ride one,’ and so we picked out Sweet Emylou for her, and then, of course, it evolved into ownership when the horse’s previous owner had passed away and John (Stinebaugh) said we need to find her a new owner.
“(Ownership) has been a lot of fun,” she continued. “That is the only horse we own, and we have a third. We all have our own stuff going on these days, and Alfredo is all over the world—he’s a tennis player—and my girls are all busy, but it’s been fun.”
