Sometimes horse trading works better than buying at public auction. That was certainly the case for the Rojas family and David Dunn.
The Rojases had a mare who had finished racing, and they wanted a young horse to race. Dunn stands stallions and breeds mares at his Spring Hill Farms in Kaplan, Louisiana. Dunn traded them the yearling Blood Money, who has since won three futurities in Louisiana, including the Dec. 18 LQHBA Louisiana Million-RG1 at Evangeline Downs.
It will work out well for Dunn also because he has arranged to stand Blood Money at stud at Spring Hill in 2023.
“They buy something from me every year,” said Dunn.
“David Dunn has been a great friend,” said Ebelyn Rojas. “He’s leading us the right way.”
