TRUMP MY RECORD SETS RECORDS
According to our records, and since the
year 2002, Trump My Record (Apollitical Blood-Breck N Records, PYC Paint Your Wagon) is the #1 leading gelding sold and the co-#1 four-year-old sold at auction. The 2019 Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding was
the high seller at the 2021 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale at $460,000. Consigned by Bielau Oaks, Trump My Record was purchased by Jesus Espinosa. The 2017 bay gelding has earned $979,068 winning such races as the Texas Classic Futurity-G1, Sam Houston Futurity-G2, Harrah’s Futurity-G3, Firecracker Derby-G3 and BF Phillips Jr S.-G3. He is currently in training.

Paula Newman was named the new AQHA chief operating officer, replacing Aaron
Bovos who is now the AQHA chief strategy officer, chief financial officer and treasurer. Newman is responsible for directing, planning and managing the daily internal and external operations as well as for overseeing organizational performance. Newman brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, previously working at Remington Park Inc., Lone Star Park, and for the City
of Grapevine, Texas. Newman has a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a master’s in business administration.

MELSON ELECTED TQHA PRESIDENT
Bill Melson was unanimously elected president
of the Texas Quarter Horse Association during their annual meeting. Others on the executive committee include first vice president Michelle Tidwell, second vice president Jorge Haddad, secretary/treasurer Pete Scarmardo, parliamentarian Mark Rigby and past president Andrea James.

SUNLAND PARK CANCELS 2020-2021 LIVE MEET
The New Mexico Racing Commission at their monthly meeting passed the motion to cancel the live horse racing meet at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino, forcing trainers, jockeys and owners to relocate their stables to different tracks. The 2020-2021 meet was to feature
47 days of racing from Dec. 26 - March 30.
The racetrack and casino both closed at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak on March 15, 2020. The casino has been shut down for almost a year, along with casinos at Albuquerque, Hobbs, Ruidoso and Farmington. On Feb. 25, however, Sunland announced the re-opening of the casino on March 5 while horse racing remains on hold.

BALLAST POINT SETS NEW TRACK RECORD
2016 sorrel gelding Ballast Point (Favorite Cartel-Fall For It, Separatist) set a 1,000-yard New Track Record at Los Alamitos in his
first start of 2021. Ballast Point covered the distance wire-to-wire, winning the $18,000 allowance by 7-lengths in :51.676 to break the previous record of :51.700 set in April of 2020. Ballast Point, who was bred by Steve D. Burns DVM, is owned by Paul C. Jones and Thompson Racing Inc., trained by Jones and was ridden by Ramon Guce. Ballast Point previously won the 2019 & 2020 Snowbound Superstar Stakes and the 2020 Trick Or Treat Handicap.
