He was undefeated at 3, winning the Golden State Derby-G2, the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1 and the Champion of Champions-G1.
Heza Dasha Fire’s 4-year-old wins include the Go Man Go Handicap-G1 and the Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship-G1, with seconds in the Los Alamitos Winter Championship-G1 and the Champion of Champions Stakes-G1 behind stablemate Mr PYC To You.
At 5, Heza Dasha Fire again won the
Go Man Go Handicap-G1 and the Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship -G1 and he ran second in the Spencer L. Childers California Breeders’ Championship-G1 and the Champion of Champions Stakes-G1.
His final year at 6, he ran in three G1 races, winning the Spencer L. Childers California Breeders’ Championship-G1 and finishing second in the Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Invitational Division 1.
Along the way, Heza Dasha Fire earned
the Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding in 2014, Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding and Champion 3 Year Old in 2015 and the 2015 World Champion title.
Jose’s third AQHA Champion, Ima Fearless Hero (Valiant Hero-Dasha Freda, Mr Jess Perry), earned the 2015 Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding title after wins in the
Ed Burke Memorial Juvenile, PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity-G2 and Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1.
As a sophomore, Ima Fearless Hero qualified to the PCQHRA Breeders’ Derby-G3 (ninth in the finals) and the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1 (fourth in the finals), and the Southern California Derby-G2 (fifth in the finals).
Bred and owned by S-Quarter K LLC, Ima Fearless Hero ended his racing career with eight wins, two seconds and two thirds from 17 starts, and earnings of $1,062,435.
In addition to Ima Fearless Hero, Jose trained Matabari (Mr Jess Perry-Hold Me Now, Separatist) to a win in the 2012 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity. Owned by Balgo Racing Team Inc. and Marilyn Gonzalez, the 2010 filly earned $1,410,471 during her four-year racing career, with seven firsts, one second and five thirds from 14 starts—running out of the money only once.
Her first year out, Matabari ran third
in her trial to the PCQHRA Breeders’ and Golden State Million futurities, then won three consecutive races including the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1.
At 3 she won the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1 and ran third in the Champion
of Champions-G1. The following year,
she ran third in the Mildred N. Vessels Memorial Handicap-G1. She ended her track
