Membership Requirements
To receive an incentive check from the NMHBA, ALL owners of NM Bred horses placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd, must be a current member of the Association. If the owner of the horse is not a member within 90 days from the date of the race, the NMHBA Incentive will be forfeited for that race. All memberships expire December 31st and must be renewed. If you are unsure of the status of your membership, you can check our website
at nmhorsebreeders.com under Membership, Member Director. All active memberships are listed. You can also call the Association at 505-262-0224 to check your status.
Starting with 2023 memberships, each individual listed as an owner must be an individual member of NMHBA. There will no longer be an option for a partnership between individuals available.
Each farm or business listed as an owner will also be required to have a membership.
Reminder
Do not forget all foals age January 1st so get your NM Bred applications in before the registration price goes up!
By December 31st of the year born:
• Weanling: $60
• Yearling: $150
• 2 Year old: $1,000
• 3 Year old and up: $2,000
The NMHBA has three (3) separate registries: 1. NM Bred registry
2. NM Broodmare registry 3. NM Stallion registry
Keep in mind, just because a horse has NM Bred status, that individual horse is not automatically placed in the Broodmare or Stallion registry. Broodmare and Stallion registrations are separate from NM Bred registration.
If you have a NM Bred QH which has been renamed or issued a new set of registration papers, you need to get the registration papers re-stamped. You can either mail the papers or hand carry them to the NMHBA office at 4836 Hardware Dr. NE, Suite B, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
