The 46th annual Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders’ Association Yearling Sale was held Aug. 5-6 at the Coushatta Casino in Kinder, Louisiana.
Total sales reached $8,212,500 for 430 horses sold of the 513 offered, which was a 18% increase over 2021. Preliminary results showed an average of $19,099, a 23% increase compared to last year, and median sales reaching $13,500, a 33% increase over 2021.
The $150,000 high seller was Hip #253, Pla- yin With Fyre (Apollitical Blood-Crystal Sola, Walk Thru Fire), who is out of a stakes winning full sister to Champion Walk Thru Crystal. Consigned by Robicheaux Ranch Inc., Agent for Simmons Racing, the bay colt was purchased by Vista Del Sol Quarter Horses Inc.
Purchased by Trey Ellis, Agent, the second- high seller at $145,000 was Hip #84, TF One Dashing Clown (One Dashing Eagle-Dashadee, Mr Jess Perry). The colt, who was consigned by Tate Farms LLC, is a sibling to four stakes run- ners and is from the family of World Champion Heza Dasha Fire and Champions Deelish, Fredricksburg, Fredaville, Ima Fearless Hero and Kiss Thru Fire.
Trey Ellis, Agent, the leading buyer of
the sale, purchased eight horses for a total of $349,500, followed by Jerry DeVille with six horses purchased for $286,500. The leading consignor was Grant Farms LLC with 34 head that sold for $900,800, followed by Tate Farms LLC selling 27 horses for $588,300.
