Funds requested by Texas Paint Horse Breeders’ Association were approved by the Texas Racing Commission for the following Texas Events:
• Lone Star Futurity – Lone Star Park
- $25,000 additional added money to | the Futurity
- $15,000 ATB Futurity Incentive to top Accredited Texas-Bred Paint horses in trials
• Colors of the Alamo Futurity - Retama Park
- $25,000 additional added money to the Futurity
- $12,000 ATB Futurity Incentive to top three Accredited Texas-Bred Paint horses in trials
• G.C.F.A. Juvenile and Maturity – Gillespie County Fair
- $15,000 added to Futurity
- $15,000 added to Maturity
- $5,000 ATB Futurity Incentive to top
three Accredited Texas-Bred Paint horses
- $5,000 ATB Maturity Incentive to top
threeAccreditedTexas-BredPainthorses
- Additional $35,000 to the Accredited
Texas-Bred Awards Program, tabulated
at the end of the year.
Plus, Texas Paint Horse Breeders’ Association
provides funds to eight (8) barrel racing events in Texas. $3,500 to each event for the Paint barrel racing horses.

Cody Smith Passes G.R. Carter in Lifetime Earnings
APHA’s 2019 Leading Jockey Cody Smith has surpassed G.R. Carter in lifetime earnings with a total of $3,654,930;
G.R. previously held the record with total earnings of $3,647,427. Some of Cody’s standout mounts have included World Champions CRM Livewire and Southern Electric, DTL Chasin Tale and DTL Smooth Criminal, to name a few. Cody has earned the Leading Paint Jockey title six times,
and G.R. has earned the award eight times. G.R. still holds the Paint record for lifetime races won with 1,799 starts and 347 wins, with Cody currently in third place with 1,842 starts and 282 wins.
Registration Requirements for Stakes Races
To establish eligibility to participate in stakes races, effective Jan. 1, 2013, all horses must meet the following requirements.
1. RegularRegistryHorse-musthaveatleast
one APHA Registered Paint horse in the
1st generation.
2. Solid Paint-Bred Horse - must have two
APHA Regular Registry Paint horses in the 1st generation or at least one APHA Regular Registry horse in the 1st generation and at least one Regular Registry Paint horse in the
2nd generation.
3. Horses foaled prior to 2013 must have
one Regular Registry Paint horse in the 1st generation.
Information on Double Registered Horses
When registering your American Paint Horse and if it will be registered with the American Quarter Horse Association, be sure to select a name that is acceptable at both registries. If you plan to race, all double registered horses must be named the same at APHA and AQHA. The horse will not be allowed to race at all if the names are not the same.

The Rocky Mountain Futurity was cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but we are planning on adding the $2,500 Paint Racing Incentive Bonus to the 2020 Harvest Cup Futurity. Money will be split 35%-30%-20%-15% to the top 4 Paint fastest times of each race. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to earn some extra cash for racing your Paint in the Northwest.
Paint Barrel Racers – Listen Up!
APHA has waived the qualification requirements for the 2020 Open/Amateur World Show.Youdonothavetoqualifytoparticipate.
$25,000 has been added to the 2020 PBRIP Sweepstakes by the Texas Paint Horse Breeders Association, including a $5,000 Texas-bred incentive that will be paid to the top 10 fastest times of any Texas foaled horse. Must be a Texas Paint Horse Breeders Association member to compete for the $5,000 Texas-bred incentive added money.

                          Speedhorse Photo Archive Answer
 The photo on page 155 shows 2012 Broodmare Of The Year One Sweet Dash (First Down Dash-Sweet Beduino, Beduino TB) at Burns Ranch in Menifee, California. Foaled in 1996, One Sweet Dash was bred by the Allred Brothers and Vessels Stallion Farm and was consigned to the 1997 Vessels/Schvaneveldt Yearling Sale where the Allred Brothers purchased sole ownership. One Sweet Dash amassed $81,937 during her career, win- ning six races, including the Phoenix Futurity-G3, Prescott Downs Futurity-G3 and AQRA Lassie Stakes. After a successful career on the track, One Sweet Dash went on to be an even more successful broodmare, producing 13 winners with over $3.2 million in earnings. Her top earner is World Champion One Dashing Eagle, who won the 2012 All American Futurity-G1. This year’s Broodmare Of The Year is Remember Me Rose.
