The 45th annual Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders’ Association Yearling Sale was held Aug. 6-7 at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana.
Total sales reached $6,928,300 for 447 horses sold of the 587 offered, which was a 32% increase over 2020. Preliminary results showed an average of $15,500, a 19% increase compared to last year, and median sales reaching $11,000, a 15% increase over 2020.
“A great sale for our consignors and buyers. We had quality yearlings that everyone will be hearing about in 2022,” LQHBA executive direc- tor Bruce Salard said to stallionesearch.com.
The $100,000 high seller was Hip #133, Apollitical Delight (Apollitical Blood-Peacefull Delight, Tres Seis), who is a first foal out of a 2-time winning Grade 2 finalist and a half-sister to World Champion Be A Bono. Consigned by Robicheaux Ranch, Agent for Simmons Racing, the bay colt was purchased by TM Ranch.
Also purchased by TM Ranch, the second- highest seller at $85,000 was Hip #409, RF Debs Dash N Blue (Jess Louisiana Blue-Fast Dash N Deb, Heza Fast Dash). The filly, who was con- signed by Robicheaux Ranch, Agent for Rogers Farm, is a full sister to two stakes horses and is out of a New Track Record setter and multiple graded stakes placed Fast Dash N Deb ($198,179).
Trey Ellis, Agent, the leading buyer of the sale, purchased 14 horses for a total of $421,000, including five of the top 15 high sellers. TM Ranch was the second leading buyer of four horses for a total of $268,500, including the high seller at $100,000 and the second-highest seller at $85,000. The leading consignor was Grant Farms LLC with 23 head consigned that sold for $522,700, followed by Robicheaux Ranch Agent with 28 head selling for $491,000.
