Preliminary results for the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale saw 152 yearlings sell for $2,730,000, which is
an increase over last year when 118 sold for just over $1.5 million. The $17,961 sale average was up 20% compared to $14,448 in 2020, and the median price also increased 29% to $12,000 compared to $8,500 last year.
The highest seller at $97,000 was
Hip #213, Nineteen Crimes (Big Daddy Cartel-Ms Riptide, Ocean Runaway). The gelding is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Mister Riptide. His first-fourth dams are all stakes winners and/or stakes producers. Nineteen Crimes was con- signed by MJ Farms and was purchased by Ricardo Ramirez.
The second-highest seller at $90,000 was Hip #156 Ricanelo, consigned by Mikkelson Racing LLC and purchased by Gene Bradley and Tod Bradley.
Big Daddy Cartel was the leading sire with 27 yearlings selling, including the top seller and the second-highest seller, for a total of $757,000 and an average of $28,037. The leading sire by average was Jesse James Jr with two horses selling for an average of $43,500.
MJ Farms was the leading consignor/ agent with 36 head selling for $997,500, including the top seller. Gene Bradley and Tod Bradley were the top buyers, purchasing four yearlings for a total of $185,000.
