Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown Race Coming Up
Trials for the third and final leg of the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown Series are right around the corner. The Championship Futurity will be the longest race of the series at 400 yards. Will Rogers Downs Racetrack will host the trials on Oct. 23 and finals on Nov. 14. Visit the Speedhorse website for more information.
Fabulous Turnpike Cruises in the Fast Lane in the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity
Under jockey Daniel Torres, Fabulous Turnpike defeated second-fastest qualifier RP Reckless Wire by half a length in the $97,679 Grade 1 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity on July 24. Fabulous Turnpike, out of the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Paint Me A Turnpike, entered the race with the fifth-fastest qualifying time after winning his trial on July 10. The bay tobiano gelding stopped the clock in 17.749 seconds, earning a 94 speed index for 350 yards into a 7-mph headwind at Fair Meadows Racetrack. Under the tutelage of Dee Keener, it was the two-year-old’s second win in five starts. The $37,118 winner’s purse boosted Fabulous Turnpike’s earnings total to $43,632 for owner Estate of Nolan D Pevehouse.
RP Reckless Wire, a daughter of leading APHA sire CRM Livewire, racing for owner Roy Perkins and trainer Ray Enlow, earned $16,605 for second place.
JS Shezaquickchick Lives Up to Her Name in the Masterpiece Derby
Defeating multiple stakes winner Mammy Jammer by 3/4-quarters of a length, JS Shezaquickchick claimed victory in the $21,600

Royal Quick Dash to her fifth win in 17 starts. JS Shezaquickchick earned $9,630 for owner Ismael Quijada of Broken Arrow, Okla. for the effort. Shir- ley Wheeler bred the winner in Oklahoma from the Cartel Success (QH) mare Cartel Chicken.
Mammy Jammer picked up $4,220 for sec- ond for owner Roy Perkins. The gray solid mare, by CRM Livewire and out of Dashin DD, was bred by Ray Enlow.
BG Wired N Sixxy Prevails in the Rockies
Congratulations to the winning connections of BG Wired N Sixxy in the Rocky Mountain Classic Paint & Appaloosa Futurity held July 31 at Oneida County Fair Racetrack. The CRM Livewire filly is out of Hot N Sixxy (QH) by A Dash of Beduino (QH). Trained by Darric Grant and ridden by Eric Ayala, the 2019 brown to- biano is owned by Becky Grant of Paul, Idaho.
