Dear members,
As I’m writing this, we’re heading into
Labor Day weekend. The All American Futurity, Derby, and Oaks will be the highlight and, the Ruidoso Quarter Horse Select Sale will take place. Something we all look forward to every year.
Speaking of the horse sale, how about
the New Mexico bred Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse sale?! The Thoroughbreds, while reduced in number, saw three
yearlings bring in excess of $100,000.00
each and another bring $90,000.00. The Quarter Horses saw an increase in average
of 46%! Just an amazing and uplifting event. Congratulations to the breeders, consignors, and buyers. It was great to see all of the smiles and optimism. Keep up the good work.
Also at the New Mexico bred sale, the NMHBA hosted a casual dinner on the Thursday night prior to the sale. We estimate
that over 200 meals were served. The food was great! Many thanks to Norma Alvarez and her team for organizing the dinner and to Mary Barber and Linda Griego for their help as well. Given how well the dinner was received, I think we can look forward to continuing this in the future.
Time for weaning the foals and mowing the weeds, not that I’m complaining about the much-needed rain we’ve received.
Finally, keep Lowell Neumeyer in your thoughts. As most of you know, Lowell is recovering from a stroke and is currently undergoing rehab in Las Cruces. Reports are that he is on the mend. Get well soon friend.
