On behalf of the community of professional jockeys, thank you and the sponsors of V2 coloring book for your donation of $6,688.23, a donation made to support the missions of the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF). Your thoughtfulness and understanding of the men and women we serve is very much appreciated.
This fund provides financial assistance to jockeys who have had their careers cut short due to serious injuries one has incurred as a direct result of one performing their trade as a professional jockey. Catastrophic injuries, which have resulted in paralysis, head trau- mas as well as other serious disabling injuries, are not planned and one is left with a very limited means of financial income, usually at a young age and carries great emotional distress.
The stories of the men and women who the PDJF assists vary in so many different ways. Each of their journeys, from the accident itself through rehabilitation and re-adjustment, come with major challenges for the jockey as well as for their families. The strength and courage each of them has is inspirational on so many levels. The medical needs they require throughout their lives and the challenges they face each day are only further complicated when they have a medical setback that requires ongoing hospital stays, sometimes for months. The support of their family and friends is paramount to maintaining a positive outlook. The lives of these individuals and the families are forever changed, and your support helps them with their medical and living expenses.
The PDJF does not have guaranteed funding and must rely on donations which place the fund at risk of not being able to continue its mission to assist these former athletes. Your support is very much appreciated. No goods or services were provided by the organization.
